Creating Schools

Opening of the Exhibition
"Flying Classrooms. We are creating Schools"

Opening: Wed, 02.03.2011, 7pm at the Az W
Exhibition: 03.03. - 30.05.2011

'Flying Classrooms' engages with the mutual interrelationship between the architectural space and teaching and learning. Manipulated furniture, space in an extendable fabric tube and full-scale models invite the visitor to experiment with new spatial solutions. Historical examples and innovative school buildings from 1950 to 1980 from the Az W archives add depth to a research-based approach. The exhibition is for everybody with an interest in education and the basic spatial requirements involved. It is a place of dialogue between schoolchildren, teachers and parents, as well as with architects and politicians.

The exhibition is accompanied by a publication in the form of a book called 'räume bilden – Wie Schule und Architektur kommunizieren' ISBN 978-3-85409-577-4, Lehn, Stuefer (Hg.) published by Löcker Verlag.
